TV-am architecture features in new book

Much has been written about the stunning TV-am building at Camden Lock in North West London.  Now a new book by the building's creator Sir Terry Farrell sheds more light on the project and the thinking behind the design.  "Interiors and the Legacy of Postmodernism" has been written by Terry Farrell himself with essays by Professor Colin Gournier and Professor Tim Makower.  It contains numerous photos of the building under construction in 1982 and after completion in 1983.  The book's publication comes as the building at Hawley Crescent is being ripped down and transformed as part of a redevelopment needed by current owners MTV Europe.  The distinctive TVAM letters are to disappear for good, as are the TV-am colours and sunrise archway.  A reconstruction of the archway has featured in an exhibition about Postmodernism at London's Victoria and Albert museum.  Here, you can see how the TV-am building was one of the UK's first examples of postmodern architecture in Britain.  The glossy hard backed book is published by Laurence King and costs £30.00.
