Breakfast TV reaches 29th anniversary

17th January 2012 marks the 29th anniversary of breakfast TV in the UK.  The BBC's "Breakfast Time" hit the air for the first time on this day, beating TV-am by two weeks.  The first show was presented by Frank Bough, Selina Scott and Nick Ross and was to be the viewers' preferred choice for several months.  The BBC wanted to provide licence fee payers with breakfast TV because ITV was going to be offering the service.  TV-am launched on 1st February 1983 presented by the famous five presenters David Frost, Michael Parkinson, Angela Rippon, Anna Ford and Robert Kee.
