Tv am 25th Anniversary

TV-am presenters gathered in London to raise a glass to the station's 25th anniversary. The celebration at the BBC's Television Centre in West London saw Anne Diamond re-united with former co-presenter Nick Owen, health and fitness presenter Lizzie Webb and celebrity chef Rustie Lee.

Lizzie hadn't seen Nick for 22 years so there was a lot of catching up to do.  He left TV-am in August 1986 to join ITV Sport.  He's now main presenter on the BBC's Midlands Today programme. Rustie said it was "fantastic" to see everyone again. Later they appeared in a special edition of ITV1's "Alan Titchmarsh Show".

Part of the TV-am set was recreated for the occasion, complete with logo, eggcups, mugs, Roland Rat toys and even Mallett's Mallet.   Props for the programme were provided by the TV-am website and museum. TV presenter Ian White, who owns the TV-am 'brand' was also at the celebration and said, "It really is fantastic to see some of TV-am's best known faces back together again. Trying to get them all in one place at any one time is never easy so we're delighted they could all make it to London for a very special celebration. TV-am owes Anne, Nick, Lizzie and Rustie so much for its success."

A specially made cake went down a treat.   In years gone by, it was always traditional to have a TV-am birthday cake!   The first one, in 1984, was made in the shape of the station's saviour, Roland Rat!
